Millfield School has, within the last few years, built a Concert Hall and Music School, the Meyer Theatre complex and a Fine Arts Centre, making it an ideal venue for CSSM with its sixty six year old tradition of music making. The Concert Hall is probably the best of its kind in the country, with seating for 300, a Steinway Grand for concerts, and room for a full symphony orchestra and large choir. Within the Music School there is also a large space for the Chamber Orchestra, six classrooms and twentytwo practice rooms with new pianos. We shall also use the Theatre and Fine Arts Centre, all are within a very few yards of the Music School. The campus is attractive, with large green spaces and splendid sporting facilities. The little town of Street is within a few minutes walk, and includes the famous 'Clark's Village' (described -by them - as 'the jewel of Somerset shopping, with over ninety shops, including M&S and Next'!). Glastonbury is just over a mile away.

All last year''s tutors will be taking part, and there is a new course 'Arranging music for mixed groups'. There will be professional concerts, including a recital by the Coull Quartet, as well as student concerts. Each course will perform towards the end of the week, and there will be many opportunities for informal music making outside normal session times. Last year's considerable interchange between 'Play More Notes!' and other string players will continue; wind players will produce their multifaceted and often curious groups; solo singers will sing with the evening choir; many choral singers will appear in the solo singing classes. We hope that local people will attend the final concert as the vast majority of us will actually be taking part rather than forming an audience!

We look forward to welcoming you to Millfield in July 2010, building on the traditions of a course founded by Ralph Vaughan Williams in 1945, but also exploring the new ideas brought out by our present professional team.
